Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 offers a lot of image editing tools to perform a variety of tasks. Image enhancement and organization are just a few of its more popular features. Some other features sometimes tend to get overlooked.
One of these features is the capability to create slideshows out of your digital still images. With digital cameras becoming less expensive, a lot of folks want to do more with the images that they photograph. The slideshow creation tool offers some nifty features to create some professional looking slideshow presentations.
Not just for family vacations, digital slideshows enable you to tell stories for other needs as well, such as corporate board meetings, reunions, and other functions. The beauty of creating a digital slide show with Photoshop Elements is the option to choose how you want to output your finished slideshow. There are several that can be used for a variety of different situations. In this technique, we'll create a slideshow with some images, and then we'll explore some of the slideshow output options in Photoshop Elements 3.0.

Launch Photoshop Elements and click Make Photo Creation on the startup screen. This will launch the Create Slideshow window. Click OK and you'll proceed to the Select Slideshow format window.
Premiere Elements gives you two types of slideshow types to choose from: Custom Slideshow, which gives you the capability to add audio, transitions and text, all customized by you. and simple slideshow, which enables you to create a simple slideshow in PDF format that you can email to those who are on your list to receive the slideshow. For this tutorial we'll create the custom slideshow.
Click OK and the next screen that comes up is the add photos screen. Here you choose to add photos from Organizer or from a folder on your computer/network.
If you add from Organizer, you get a visual representation of the images that you wish to add. To do so, just click off the box that resides in the lower left corner of the image. Photoshop Elements will add that image to your project. If you select add photos from folder, the application sends you out of Photoshop Elements to find images that are in folders on your hard drive. The limitation here is you don't see all the photos in the folder until you import them into the Slideshow Editor. So my advice is to add them to the Organizer. It is easier and visual.
Now you've added your images, and Photoshop Elements added them into the slideshow editor. Here is where you can get creative. The slideshow editor enables you to add audio tracks, voiceovers, and transitions to your slideshow. You can also set the duration that you want the images to remain onscreen.
When adding text, you can choose the font you want to use, as well as the font size and color of the font. You can move the text anywhere on the "slide" that you wish. You can also choose the text orientation as well as the text justification. Click ok and the text remains where you aligned it.
